Degree and area of specialization:
A Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field is required.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Applications from all areas of electric power conversion and energy systems will be considered. Of particular interest (not in any ranked order) are: (i) power system optimization, control, sensing, estimation, and large-scale data analysis, focusing on goals of efficient resource allocation, reliability, and infrastructure cyber security; (ii) the integration of non-traditional renewable generation sources and novel energy technologies into the electric system; (iii) the design and utilization of power electronics to facilitate adoption of sustainable energy technologies; (iv) design of advanced electromechanical conversion and other novel energy conversion technologies; (v) design, electrical interfacing, and/or grid integration of advanced electrical energy storage technologies for high power applications. Those with previous university experience applying for a tenured appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level require six or more years experience as a university faculty member or equivalent. Such an individual must demonstrate high-impact, broadly recognized academic contributions as a researcher and scholar, with a commensurate record of success in attracting extramural research support, to meet the University of Wisconsin-Madison¿s stringent standards for a tenured appointment. Principal duties:
Teaching and developing undergraduate and graduate courses; supervising graduate student research; developing and directing a strong, funded research program; participating in departmental and university faculty governance; and contributing to professional and public service.
