Find your programme and apply online

You can find the programmes and courses open for applications here. On the programme or course page you will find a link on the right hand side with the application information. If the course or programme is open for application, there will be a message with a link “Apply now”. When you click on this link you will automatically come to the national application website www.universityadmissions.se where you fill out the online part of the application and can read the instructions for sending your supporting documents.

Meeting the admission requirements


If you are unsure whether you meet the specific admission requirements that the programme lists (e.g. specific education background, credits in particular subjects, professional experience), you need to the programme directly to check these details.

If you are unsure whether you fulfill the general admission requirements (i.e. you are unsure if you have fulfilled the requirement of holding a degree, or the English language proficiency), you can the admissions office by email lant [a] stu.lu (p) se.

Deadline 16 January 2012


The application period for international students applying to Bachelor’s or Master’s programmes closes at the end of Monday 16 January 2012. This deadline is for the online part of the application.

Submitting supporting documents


After you have completed your online application on www.universityadmissions.se , you need to submit your supporting documents. Deadline for the supporting documents to arrive at University Studies in Sweden is 1 February 2012. Note that you should send any documents directly to Lund University, unless this is clearly stated in the programme information.

Make sure that your package of documents is complete. If any documents are missing or submitted incorrectly by deadline, your entire application will be considered late and may not be processed.

Additional documents required by the programmes/courses


Many programmes or courses require you to write a statement of purpose (also called “letter of intent” or “motivation letter”) to explain why you have applied to that programme, why you believe it will benefit you in your future career and any other points you believe are important for the programme to know. This statement is reviewed as part of the programme’s selection process. The statement is an opportunity for you to convince the selection board that you are a good student for the programme.

Please note that some programmes require you to answer specific questions, or to follow a specific template, or to comment on certain topics within your statement of purpose. Check the programme specific web pages under “How to apply” to see what they ask for.

You may also be asked to submit recommendation letters, a CV, a writing sample or for design programmes, a portfolio. Make sure to read the instructions carefully and submit all the required documents. Do not submit other documents than those asked for.

Application fee and tuition fees


Non-EU/EEA citizens are generally required to pay an application fee as well as a tuition fee when applying to a study programme in Sweden. Read here to find out if you are required to pay.

If you are required to pay an application fee, you must do so before the deadline 1 February 2012. Your application will be processed if you do not pay the application fee by the deadline.

If you are an EU/EEA citizen you need to prove that you are exempt from paying the fees by submitting a certified copy of your passport.

If you are required to pay tuition fees, you will need to pay the first instalment of the fee after you have been offered a place on a programme/course at Lund University and accepted the offer.

Lund University Global Scholarship


The Lund University Global Scholarship is a selective and merit-based scholarship open to top academic students from countries outside the EU/EEA that have made an application for a programme or course at Lund University. The deadline to apply online for this scholarship is the end of Monday 16 January 2012. How you apply is explained on the above webpage link, where you can also find the application form. All documents to support your scholarship application must arrive at University Studies in Sweden by 1 February 2012. Please note that the scholarship personal "motivation letter" is different from the letter you may be required to send as part of your application to a programme. This scholarship motivation letter should explain why your academic performance and reasons for applying to Lund University makes you an appropriate recipient for a Lund University Global Scholarship.
