Researchers star in Academy awards

Dr Andrew Hogg has won the Frederick White Prize for early-career research.
ANU researchers have been honoured in all three categories of the 2012 Academy of Science awards.
The winners will share in $218,000 in research funding awarded in the categories of life-long achievement, outstanding early-career research and research project support.
Among the winners is Professor Gordon Lister of the Research School of Earth Sciences, who will receive the Mawson Medal for his career-long research into the earth sciences.
Early career researcher Andrew Hogg of the Research School of Earth Sciences has won the Frederick White Prize for his work in physical, terrestrial and planetary science.
Mr Ben Scheele of the Fenner School of Environment and Society will receive funding for his research project, Northern corroboree frog disease dynamics and recovery, through the Margaret Middleton Fund for endangered Australian animals.
Professor Ken Freeman of the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics has won the prestigious 2013 Matthew Flinders Medal.
The awardees will receive their medals at the Academy’s annual conference in May 2012.
