SEK 73 million in science and technology research funding
The Swedish Research Council has reached the decision to grant SEK 73 million (EUR8 million) in funding to 27 new research projects within the natural sciences and technology at Umeå University.
The Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet) annually supports research of the highest quality within all scientific disciplines. This year, there has been the opportunity to apply for grants from three specific focus areas, including Linking the molecules of life. Four researchers at Umeå University were awarded grants in this discipline, among the seven projects in all of Sweden. Pernilla Wittung-Stafshede, Professor at the Department of Chemistry, received the highest grant in this area of more than SEK 5.2 million over four years.
Additionally, the Council made a special effort to give grants to young researchers and seven of these were awarded to researchers at Umeå University.
The following researchers at Umeå University have received project grants from the Swedish Research Council:
Ove Axner, Department of Physics
Richard Bindler, Department of Ecology and Environmental Science
